INVESTMENT ANALYST

Helsinn International Services sarl is the Helsinn subsidiary which provides a range of advisory services and strategic activities to the Helsinn Group and its specific companies. In particular, it acts as the advisory company to Helsinn Investment Fund.

For our Corporate New Ventures and Strategic Investments Division in Helsinn International Services Sarl (Principality of Monaco) we are looking for an:

INVESTMENT ANALYST

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively originate investment opportunities, under the guidance of the Head of New Ventures and Strategic Investments, analyze new potential markets and risks, assess potential opportunities (e.g. strategic fit, financial return, technical assessment, overall attractiveness) providing scientific, technical, financial expertise
  • Coordinate, lead and report the due-diligence processes for selected opportunities, interacting with internal Helsinn Group and external functions/consultants. Prepare or collect the necessary materials for meetings and reports
  •  Support the HIS Management team in negotiations and deal structuring, co-ordinating with the relevant internal functions (eg tax, legal, IP, finance etc.). Support in managing and contracting for new transactions
  • Deliver robust investment proposals, in conjunctions with relevant support, to assess the value creation potential of venture proposals to Helsinn, evaluation of projects profitability
  • Demonstrate good business judgement with an ability to challenge plans and assumptions and take an independent stance when necessary
  • Monitor the market and the competition scenario for existing portfolio companies
  • Communicate initiatives in cooperation with the local company and the Group. Relationship building and maintenance; requests follow up

The successful candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as analyst in a corporate environment
  • University degree (preferably science and /or finance based) with professional qualification, e.g. ACA, CFA, MBA etc.
  • Fluent English, French preferred, additional language (Italian) beneficial but not essential
  • Free to travel regularly and extensively
  • Open minded and flexible in working within flat structure
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and energetic ‘get things done’ attitude
  • Able to work across different and diverse business units
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the venture investment process, including origination, due diligence, deal structuring, legal agreements, portfolio management and exits
  • Establishing an internal network with key functional operatives in BD, corporate functions and business units in order to facilitate necessary teamwork
  • Developing an understanding of Helsinn Group’s strategy and the role Ventures can play in executing this
  • Together with the Head of New Ventures, evolving the internal systems to support the investment process and portfolio
